This is Not Right

I don’t even like Sarath Fonseka - but this is not right.

According to D.B.S Jeyraj, the former General was dragged away, literally kicking and screaming, from his office on Rajakeeya Mawatha last night (Monday 8th February).

It was a foolish endeavor right from the start, to publicly threaten the ‘regime’ and its army by saying he would reveal highly confidential information that would implicate the armed forces as having committed war crimes. Foolish because any idiot could have told him that it would not end happily. But also particularly because SF was right there in the thick of things when all these war crimes were being committed, and in fact was the General of the army that committed them! I always thought it was a bit of a joke, for him to claim he ‘knew’ things and that he would stop at nothing to expose the misconduct of the armed forces during the final days of battle. It was a bit ironic - that kind of irony that makes one snort - for the retired General to be saying he stood for truth and justice and would fight corruption and reveal all ugly truths about the army and the war, especially when it was in the face of a Presidential Election.

But - still. To surround a man with military and military police and then to drag him away in front of dozens of soldiers and allies in the dead of the night is not right. It’s not right even if he had been a regular guy - an average johnny. It’s even less right if he is the Opposition, the candidate that dared to stand against the reigning King at the recently concluded election. And it’s even less right if it’s the guy who’s been threatening to divulge inside information about war crimes committed by the SLA during its fight against the LTTE.

As far as the President is concerned, does he not even care about PR anymore? Does he not care how things like this will make him look? I guess not. I guess he doesn’t have to care - he doesn’t have to give a shit. He has placed himself above all else. And he has no one to fear.

I don’t know what’s going in - but this is not right.

  3. any person who believes anything dbs jeyaraj says ( without other verification ) is too stupid and/or deliberately choosing to be. given his his well established history parroting (easily verified to be ) lies of terrorists ( esp during defeat of terrorists in east) .

    family habit i believe.
    -
why shouldn’t a lawful arrest be made if there are evidence ( plenty of it is public ) for the charge that sf was undermining democracy starting when he was in the military ? what is wrong with that ?

do tell, ms 3td generation ngo parasite, do explain that

is sf immune from justice and above the law whatever he does ?
    -
btw what right do you have to speack about rights of sri lankans when you were favoring wholesale handing over of those rights to terrorist murderers as cost pf peace?( you still periodically repeat ‘peace is worth any cost’. even that cost ) . you did not want the terrorist murderers defeated but appeased . terrorist’s baseless propagnada you repeat even here slandering sl military .
is that acceptable to you? is that right ?

do you and yours get paid for such services it with terrorist blood money?

lows a shameless parasite fall! this blog is a good example.

  4. If you recall my arguments on the election, this is what I feared; although its a happening faster and seems far worse.

  5. It had to happen. Fonseka was going to testify against Sri Lanka. The government absolutely cannot afford to let that happen. It’s unlikely that he be released for a very long time.

He challenged the government to arrest him. He said he’s going to seek asylum overseas. He was going to testify against his own military. As far as I’m concerned, the little fucker had it coming to him.

  6. Law abiding citizens do not fight arrest, they fight like hell in the courts and win if they are innocent. Resisting arrest itself is a charge / crime in many countries.

  7. Oh dear Electra, you are still as immature as ever. It’s not right. Learned a trick or two from Indi did you. Put the letters “L” “T” “T” “E” in your article and you’ll get more hits.

It’s so “not right” is it when a war criminal gets a good thumping? Have you ever watched a young Tamil boy or girl getting dragged of into the bushes for a bit of anal rape, a sledgehammer across their brain (in front of their mother) and then a dump into a well? Ever heard about that?

Why do you persist in being some dumb arse bimbo from Ladies College … oh sorry Bishop’s colllege that needs to crap on about nothing.

    Grow a brain you dill.

I’m amazed that more Sinhalese have not been killed. Somewhere in this mad scheme, maybe there is a murderous protocol that is being followed.

Either way, you’d be the last to know!

  8. I would not in any way protest to anyone being arrested for war crimes. By all means I may even support it. But then the whole lot of them need to be arrested - Gota, MR - all of them. But I somehow doubt (oh so immature and naive as I am) that he’s being arrested for war crimes. I think he’s being arrested because he poses a direct threat to the government and its stronghold and THAT is not right.

If you think this is me crapping on about ‘nothing’ then please do not read my blog. No one is forcing you to.

  9. I’m glad that Bardo agrees that there is a case for war crimes.

    Comment by Anon — February 10, 2010 @ 4:15 pm

  10. When did I say that these Sinhalese lunatics should not be arrested for war crimes?

And you are immature because your best excuse for defending the further ruination of Sri Lanka is “aney don’t read my blog”.

Grow up - I see you thrive on entertaining the likes of Sittingnut too.

    It’s pathetic.

  11. Electra, I do not know you, but I do read your blog once in a while - it’s funny how a lot of comments about your posts are always personal. Whether I agree with you or not I’m not sure I see how mentioning your family or the school you went to (and I didn’t go to Bishops or LC) is necessary when commenting about all (or the majority of) your posts. Just a thought..

    Comment by Anon — February 11, 2010 @ 4:22 am

  12. Anon - Tell me about it. Beats me too. I guess the only thing one can gather from it is that those people don’t really have an argument or opinion so they need to make personal attacks to make themselves heard? I don’t know. It has always baffled me.

What baffles me further is how much these people seem to know about me. It’s a little bit creepy. I can’t imagine doing so much snooping around/research on random strangers I meet in cyberspace in order to have some ammunition to throw at them just in case things get heated.

The great irony of it all is that they call me immature and ignorant. I for one can safely say I have never said anything about anyone’s family or school career online in the heat of an argument. I have never revealed names or occupations or any information about these people - because I don’t have any information and I don’t think that’s fair or intelligent of me.

There have been instances when certain bloggers have revealed other bloggers’ names, children’s names and so on and so forth. They post naked pictures and stick other people’s faces onto them. They comment in a variety of different pseudonyms and fake IDs. They slander and call each other names and become even mildly racist. It’s utter chaos dude. It’s a dirty world we blog in.

  13. since anon above made a comment in my blog about a personal i attack supposedly made here, i came back to look .

    lol

typical to ignore the arguments and concentrate on what you call personal attacks.

following i are the points i made ( more details above )
why should dbs jeyaraj’s account be used to make an argument when he has lied before?

why shouldn’t a lawful arrest be made if there are evidence ( plenty of it is public ) for the charge that sf was undermining democracy starting when he was in the military( not fr ‘war crimes’ btw ) ? what is wrong with that ?

what right does electra has to speak about rights of sri lankans when she was favoring wholesale handing over of those rights to terrorist murderers as cost pf peace? and as a beneficiary of ngo peacenik business aka ngo parasite .

electra loves to slander sl military.

anon, are all that personal attacks? lol

    Comment by sittingnut — February 11, 2010 @ 12:12 pm

  14. No sittingnut what I meant by personal is the fact that most of your comments for some reason have some reference to electra’s family. Is that really necessary??

  17. anon february 11, 2010 @ 12:38 pm,

it depends on the circumstances . some times it is necessary to point out hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty .

for instance to dismiss all adverse arguments as personal attacks is intellectual dishonesty . so to call specific some one dishonest bc of doing that is a valid point though it is also a personal attack.

i don’t say anything if they are not valid ,if you object you have to be more specific.

    Comment by sittingnut — February 12, 2010 @ 7:36 pm

  18. btw i take it you now admit arguments i made (and repeated in second comment for your benefit ) were not mere personal attacks? why not say it clearly since you took the trouble to comment on that (rather irrelevantly) in my blog. or is that too much honesty for you ?

  21. Sittingnut. Why don’t you counter my god argument? Why don’t you present facts and evidence to prove your claim that the allegations of physical abuse of Fonseka when he was arrested are “false”? … Also, do you honestly believe that a rapist’s lawyer can use the rapist as an eyewitness to prove the rape never happened? Hah hah.

    Comment by lefroy — February 16, 2010 @ 11:53 am

  22. If anyone’s interested, please go and read his article titled “sarath fonseka supporters incite and welcome violence” ( http://llibertarian.blogpot.com/2010/02/sarath-fonseka-supporters-incite-and.html ) and read the comments. Unable to counter my what I call the ‘god argument’, he insults me as usual and writes the dumbest thing he has ever written: “anyone can be an eyewitness [including the military personnel who arrested SF]”. By the time he said this, I’d said that I wouldn’t post anymore comments on that thread so I wrote my reply on my blog. Basically my reply was, according to Sittingnut, a rapist’s lawyer can use the rapist himself as an eyewitness to prove the rape never happened. Buwah hah hah ha… The nut’s a dishonest government propagandist. Don’t take him seriously. He’s yet to swear by his mother’s soul that all he says about me censoring his comments are true. He will never do that. He’s a liar, but he too came out of a woman’s womb.

  26. Dear Electra, DBS Jeyaraj has also written about a possible coup that was planned by SF.You didnt mention dat.Coup fears were prevailing ever since he got appointed.
Why did SF appoint his lackeys to key strategic positions in SLA?
Why did he bring the sinha regement to colombo?
What crime did Pannipitiya do to earn the wrath of SF?Why was Pannipitia expelled?was he jealous…..
Why did SF reduce the security of Shantha Kottegoda? and of Parami Kulatunga?….did he indirectly help the terrorists to assassinate Parami Kulatunga?
Why did he say in a public gathering dat Gota will be shot, basil will be hanged and MR will be sent to bogambara?
How come all the major arms deals during his reign have a link to Danuna thilakaratne, who is without a job but owns a BMW?
Did Mrs.asoka thilakaratne earn the US$752000 in 3 safes under her name?
What were those army deserters doing in dat hotel?
Why did SF have contacts with JVP leaders while wearing the uniform?
the reality is SF wanted more power.and he cudnt get dat while being army commander. He planned a coup.So no wonder Mahinda is agitated

  27. @ROSH… Is anything proven? I repeat, is anything proven? Not so far. So far there isn’t even a charge sheet… Do you approve the government doing this to a man who haven’t yet been proven guilty? Probably you do. Probably you also approve the police shooting down suspects “en route to where the weapons are hidden.”… This is a democracy. There are procedures to be followed.
