Hi electra,

I share the same sentiments. Michael Jackson, the man, the music was very much part of my life. He epitomised everthing that was great, amazing, awe inspiring, hopeful and good. Alot of fans believe that Michael took apart of us when he left and he really did...there's something missing.

His demise is such a massive loss as he affected quite alot of us in profound ways...he did leave a legacy that not many would leave at 50.

In away he is probably in a much peaceful place now....he probably never really belonged here..reality, mundane everyday life, mediocrity was not in his sphere.

Thanks for this post.xxx

Dylanfan: Do I consider McCartney gone, yes I do, very much. I don't believe in glorifying artists just because they were once great, or in his case once a "Beatle". I am not impressed by his more recent attempts at music, neither am I impressed by Dylan's new music. To be fair, Modern Times was bad, dead boring really. It did not have the lyrical genius or the musical simplicity and charm of his older work, and it would be unfair to his old music to put the new music on the same pedestal. I haven't listened to Together Through Life though, have you?

It's the same with David Gilmour. What is he even trying to do lately? It's lame. And it would devalue all the hard work of Pink Floyd to call it good.

Dylan isn't gone career wise... you'd never say McCartney was 'gone' would you?

I listen to thriller album first with my first pair of headphones and utterly enjoyed something magical called “Stereo Sound”. I was amazed by it. I listen to the same songs over and over again, every night falling sleep, and noticed something new and deferent every single time. And I remember, I was so inspired by, not the music alone, but the attention to details I noticed in that stereo sound. Yes. Some may wanted to dance, some wanted to sing. But I wanted to chaise perfection, like he did with his work. And I think, and I hope, I still have that need in me.

Oh goodness, I know Dylan is alive.

Hence I used the word 'gone'. I meant they were done, career wise. I just wanted to lump Lennon, Marley and Dylan in the same sentence in terms of impact, so I did and used the word 'gone'.
