my wonderful chatroom

so tracy’s play ‘chatroom’ is over as of last night. it was an absolutely powerful, enlightening, fulfilling experience. i thought about and learnt things i had no grasp on previously, and as tracy herself said, came to lowe those that were virtually strangers to me a few months ago.

i hope everyone that came to watch chatroom enojyed it, and most importantly went home with something to think about. although my idea of the target audience would be teenagers or there-about young people, i think chatroom is something that everyone can relate to : i hope we made the teenagers feel like they aren’t alone in how they feel, the confusion, the angst, the little daily frustrations. we all feel that way sometimes. i hope we made the adults remember what it was like to be us, to be where we are in life, to not know fully who you are or where you want to go. i hope, above all, that everyone took home with them a youthful and strong resolve to not only endure life, but love it.

its very hard to take risks with art in a place like sri lanka, where people have very set-in-stone ideas about theater and acting, but someone has to do it. with six chairs, six garden lights and some clothes out of our own cupboards, we managed to turn characters into real people, we managed to tell a very important story in an hour and we managed to take lines and turn them into living, breathing, thoughtful words. enda walsh wrote a wonderful, witty, clever play. i hope we took it somewhere worthwhile. i definitely felt like we did. much love and power to everyone who is or has ever been involved with mind adventures.

we felt it all. it came to every single one of us. it was all real.

thank you, to everyone. please tell us what you thought.
